SAP at OKCPS

History

SAP (pronounced with the initials – like IBM or OGE) is an integrated software that performs virtually every aspect of business management (human resources, finance, logistics, production, distribution, and so on.)  It is called an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software.  SAP is a German company, and the SAP initials are for a German title, but it loosely translates to Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing.

In 2001, Oklahoma City Public Schools implemented the HR (Human Resources including Payroll and Benefits), FI (Finance), and MM (Materials Management – Purchasing) modules of SAP.

In 2009, the District implemented a technical upgrade of the system from 4.6b version to ECC 6.0.   The upgrade allowed the District to meet Federal and State reporting requirements as well as provided a platform to implement some desirable functional enhancements in the future.
