  Native American Rising Star
Catherine Brim

Catherine Brim, senior at Classen School of Advanced Studies and a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.  Catherine was selected to be a Junior Rotarian by the Downtown Rotary Club due to outstanding grades and her tireless effort to help others less fortunate than she. She helped build a Kaboom playground with the junior rotarians. She currently volunteers weekly with elementary children at the Arts Academy as a photography teacher.  She was a photography teacher there last year also.  She was a math tutor at the Boys and Girls club.  She has traveled to Nashville, TN to help with clean up efforts there over last Spring Break with our church.  She volunteers at Skyline Urban Ministries downtown distributing clothes for kids and helping with the meals for the Prime Timers.  Catey also makes time for sports.  She is the Team Captain for the second time for the girls soccer team at Classen SAS and was a team captain last year as well. She plays indoor soccer as well.  She participates in the National Honor Society at Classen. While participating in all of this she also manages to keep excellent grades. Dartmouth selected her as one of only 50 US Native American youth for their “Native American Fly-in Program” where she was flown to New Hampshire and was introduced to Native American Students from all over the country.  She went there in October 2011 and had a short college experience.  What an exciting opportunity for her and for all Native Americans.  She will be graduating in May from Classen School of Advanced Studies with an International Baccalaureate degree.    Catey is truly a Rising Star!
